Emiel de Joode has been a partner with THNa since 2011. He is a lawyer with extensive experience in employment law, focusing specifically on collective employment, reorganisations and M&A. He also advises on privacy issues in the workplace, in particular data protection in employment.
His clients and business relations include many international companies based in and around ports, including chemical companies, storage and transshipment companies, shipowners, terminals, shipyards and key port suppliers. He particularly enjoys not only the work ethic in the port sector, but also its specific laws and regulations. For example, the legislation governing disasters and serious accidents, as well as the collective labour agreements and the working conditions.
Other clients of Emiel’s operate in the healthcare sector in the Netherlands, including municipal health services and care organisations. This sector requires a thorough understanding of all the various collective labour agreements. Data protection is also important, as is the role that employees play in it.
Emiel de Joode obtained his LLM in Dutch Law from VU Amsterdam in 1995. In 2007 he completed the post-academic programme in Employment Law. He draws on his education and extensive experience to tackle complicated and practical issues of employment law and privacy law.
He has been a member of the Executive Board of Ten Holter Noordam advocaten since October 2022. In that capacity, he shares responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day business with the Managing Director and another partner.
