Gerdien van der Voet is a lawyer and partner with THNa. Her area of the law is employment law, and until recently she was a Professor by Special Appointment at Erasmus School of Law (ESL), where her focus was on employment at sea. She has a detailed understanding of non-standard employment situations, and specialises in co-determination for works councils and client councils in the healthcare sector. She received her PhD on that subject in 2005. She is known for her strong analytic skills. She is very good at translating complicated employment law matters into easy-to-understand advice.
Gerdien also has a broad understanding of collective employment agreements and employment law in general. Most of her clients are employers, including companies operating offshore and cross-border carriage and shipping. She also advises companies that hire self-employed workers and has become a go-to source of information for employer organisations. She achieves regular success challenging penalties imposed by the Netherlands Labour Authority.
Besides lecturing to university students, Gerdien also teaches courses to HR teams, crewing managers and lawyers. Gerdien regularly produces webinars and speaks at seminars, office events and events of professional associations.
Gerdien van der Voet has authored/co-authored and edited/co-edited several scholarly works, including academic textbooks.
