Hugo Meijer has been working for THNa since January 2025. His particular area of expertise as a lawyer is construction and real estate. Until December 2024 he was a partner in the firm. Hugo regularly represents clients in litigation and arbitration about disputes involving construction matters. He also advises contractors, municipal authorities, housing corporations and other businesses about the full range of legal issues that construction and real estate throw up. He is part of THNa’s Construction Market Group.

Hugo provides his clients with running updates about legal developments, including BIM, standardised contracts, circular construction, standardised consultancy agreements and other relevant trends in the construction sector.

Hugo uses templates for development and construction contracts: contracting agreements, professional technical agreements, partnership agreements, turnkey agreements, agreements for projects where construction and sale are separate, etc. He then customises those templates to suit the client’s needs for the project.

Clients describe Hugo as easy to communicate with and a lawyer who provides practical advice. “Clients don’t want to hear about problems,” is his motto, “they want to hear about solutions.”

Outside his work as a lawyer, Hugo prefers to spend his time constructively. He holds seats on the boards of several cultural organisations to help make the world a better place.
