Sheila van Gemeren has been working as a lawyer for THNa since 2020. Before that, she worked as a legal expert and property valuer. She specialises in area development and real estate and the overlaps with civil and administrative law. She also possesses an understanding of property valuation and structural architecture. She advises and litigates about purchases/contracting, transitional construction law and land policy, particular for multiple land uses in the form of real rights and easement orders.
Sheila also has a particular focus on the energy transition, utilities and the associated above-ground and underground infrastructure. This includes the electrical grid and its expansion, fibre-optics grids (telecommunication), heating grids, the drinking water grid and sustainable sources such as wind, solar and geothermal energy.
Sheila is a member of THNa’s Construction Market Group, and of the Energy and ESG expert teams. She works with colleagues from multiple disciplines to help property developers, contractors and housing corporations with their construction-related issues. She is the point of contact for the Energy and ESG expert teams, and mostly handles matters relating to energy law.
Sheila van Gemeren has an LLM in Constitutional and Administrative Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She completed the advanced specialist Real Estate Law programme in 2024, graduating cum laude.
