Sjoerd Warringa is a lawyer and partner who has been with THNa since 2013. He specialises in insolvency law and company law, helping companies and their directors with complicated issues in those areas. His particular focus is on bankruptcies in the Port, Trade and Retail sectors. He is frequently appointed as a bankruptcy trustee. Besides his work as a lawyer, he is also a deputy judge and gives guest lectures at Leiden and Utrecht Universities.
Sjoerd’s areas of expertise are procedural law, directors’ and officers’ liability, the Dutch Scheme (WHOA), security (e.g. pledges and mortgages), and insolvency law including counselling on conflicts with bankruptcy trustees. For the Port, Trade and Retail sectors, he combines the roles of lawyer and bankruptcy trustee, with an emphasis on bankruptcy and restructuring. He has a practical approach and always looks for the best possible solution for his clients.
Sjoerd Warringa has a broad academic background. Besides graduating from the advanced specialist programmes for Insolvency Law and Finance and Security, he has also completed other courses such as Financial Economics for Bankruptcy Trustees and the Supervisory Board Member Programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He regularly publishes about relevant legal topics.
